Grand Rapids, MI (NBp) - Area resident Fran Cooperstein announced today that she had nearly won the $3 million Lotto jackpot. Cooperstein, a regular Lotto player, matched 3 of the 6 numbers. Had she matched one more number, she would have won a small cash prize. Had she matched just 3 more, she would have won the entire $3 million jackpot. This ticket reminded Cooperstein of the time in early 1996 when she fainted after matching 3 of the numbers.

Cooperstein, who "[doesn't] want to think about how much [she] has spent on the Lotto", plays buys two tickets for each semi-weekly drawing. NBp researchers estimate that she spends more than $200 a year on the lottery, and has spent more than $2,000 since she started playing. Researchers report that the odds of her seeing any of that money back again are approximately zero.

If she does win, Cooperstein reports that she will "dump that loser boyfriend of [hers] and go somewhere warm, like Hawaii".
